WE COME FROM THE END OF THE WORLD
We are a community of innovation, learning and design from the end of the world but with a global impact.
Our name has its origin in the Ona language and means “to go down the road and define the walk” in the journey of discovery that Selk´nam people made daily. These native people from Chile and Argentine, were nomadic hunters and gatherers and lived in one of the most hostile territories of the world: Tierra del Fuego in southern Patagonia.
lifestyle was a light and constant journey, dividing tasks, trusting each other and being flexible regarding changes, risks and uncertainties of the region. Their social structure was horizontal, in small groups that rotated the leading roles among their members.
Their cosmovision inspires us, and that is why we chose from their language this meaningful word. For us, Yuken represents the learning journey of a development team that gathers to solve a problem. This journey takes us to question the context, identify new challenges, investigate the system where the challenge occurs, to later include and synthesize what is relevant and in this way generate an efficient, meaningful, creative and innovative solution.
That is how the action of Yuken is centered in designing innovations and learning experiences.
We do build our own experiences and from there we learn, what an essential and relevant value is to have access to the design of new experiences; not only meant as acts of consumption but as new and better ways of learning in a meaningful way and therefore, evolve as society.
At Yuken we see innovation from design as a learning path. We invite you to co-design the future that we want to live in.
